Creating Content is a Business
Yes... it takes work.
In the last 3 years I’ve become friends with content creators and worked with a dozen others through my consulting firm and here’s what I’ve learned:
The creators that understand that content is the business are the ones with thriving, profitable and highly sustainable businesses.
Sure, there are plenty of stories of people creating content they enjoy and it starts from their desire to become a “YouTuber” or “Influencer”.
Or maybe it was just a hobby they enjoyed.
Yet more times than not, specifically in 2025 it’s not uncommon to find creators making 6 & 7 figures per year.
To some, those numbers sound and feel ambitious.
But it’s time to shatter limiting beliefs.
There’s a “system” a lot of creators follow when it comes to making money.
Create content → build an audience → get monetized (ad revenue) → sell digital products (courses, etc).
It’s worked for a long time, and it will continue working for quite some time.
Here’s the problem most people come across (including myself):
Build a business, create offers and make your audience aware of what offer (free or paid)
The #1 pitfall I’ve faced and seen others do is they don’t pour time getting better at the following:
1 content platform
consistently create quality content
That’s it.
Simple, but not easy.
Before you can worry about systems for the business side of your brand, you need systems for the content side.
Systems aren’t something you just slap together and roll with it.
Great systems are built on the back of your process and expertise around your content.
Trying to systemize your offers and business does nothing for you content creation process.
Get clear on the platform you want to create content on, become an expert about the platform itself, and become a master at creating content in a way that provides value to the audience of that platform.
This will take work, time and mastery.
Go all-in… Like actually all-in.
The results may surprise you in 3 months, 6 months, 9 months or 12 months.
And even if it takes longer, keep going.
I didn’t start my journey as a creator and content is something I haven’t gone “all-in” on because I started with building businesses first — content was always a “task”.
It should never be looked at as a task.
It is one of the most important needle-movers that you could put your energy towards.
